We are looking for you to join us in developing Gotland's cultural heritage with a focus on ancient monuments and archaeology.

You will be part of the Unit for Social Development, where approximately twenty employees work within areas such as cultural heritage, urban planning, energy and climate, and social sustainability.
Job Responsibilities
The County Administrative Board is responsible for cultural heritage management in the county. Our mission is multifaceted and rooted in many different laws, regulations, and national objectives, which is why the work is also cross-sectoral. We have practical responsibility for the application of the Cultural Heritage Act in the county. The County Administrative Board ensures that the Cultural Heritage Act is followed, reviews permits, and provides advice and information regarding ancient monuments, churches, and listed buildings. We also work with grants for the care of particularly valuable ancient monuments, buildings, and cultural landscapes.
As a handler of archaeology and ancient monument matters, you are offered stimulating work with great personal responsibility and varying tasks. With us, you have the opportunity to develop in your professional role and work with many of the county's ancient monument environments. The assignment includes both strategic and operational tasks.

Your responsibilities include:
handling matters within cultural heritage and participating in developing planning documents.
investigating and reviewing permits, examining matters from an ancient monuments perspective, and providing advice on ancient monuments and archaeology. The work includes some field work in the form of supervision and exercise of authority.
contributing your expertise in internal preparations and cross-sectoral matters at the authority.
representing, collaborating, and participating in regional and national networks related to cultural heritage and ancient monument matters.
contributing to other tasks at the authority such as handling matters within emergency preparedness and energy issues.
Qualifications

You have good and clear communication skills and express yourself well in both speech and writing in Swedish and English. You applying for the position should have:
a degree at least at the bachelor's level, preferably a master's degree with archaeology as the main subject or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
work experience and current knowledge of archaeology and assessments of ancient monuments.
good knowledge of cultural heritage legislation
a driver's license for a car.
It is advantageous if you have:
experience in handling matters within public administration, e.g., county administrative board, municipality, or museum
experience in field archaeology, e.g., contract archaeology and field surveying
knowledge of maritime archaeology
competence in registration in Fornreg
experience working with GIS
knowledge and experience of working with the Planning and Building Act (PBL) and/or the Environmental Code
