About the Swedish Correctional Services
The Swedish Correctional Services is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. When we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, detention facilities, and inmate transportation.
Karlskoga Prison opened in 1984 with 44 prison places. Since then, much has happened, and in August 2022, new modules were inaugurated, bringing the facility to 199 places today. You will join a workplace that is constantly developing and moving forward. You will meet approximately 150 colleagues who, together with prison management, work toward common goals in an ongoing transformation journey. Additionally, 160 more prison places are expected to open in 2029. Karlskoga Prison is a Class 2 facility with male clients, meaning the Swedish Correctional Services' second-highest security classification.
Job Description
Within the Swedish Correctional Services, you will work with a complex and important societal mission where you can make a difference. As a leader, you will help your employees reach set goals in various ways within a rapidly growing authority.
As a manager, you lead, develop, and monitor operations toward set goals and provide support to your employees and management colleagues in daily work. Correctional services is teamwork, and you will work with good workplace culture, a good work environment, and ensure that routines and work methods are clear and functioning well. An important part of your work is staying informed and knowledgeable about the laws, regulations, and guidelines that govern the Swedish Correctional Services' operations.
Your responsibilities include personnel, budget, and work environment responsibility for approximately 30 employees. You will be part of the management group where the Prison Director and your colleagues form an important platform for your leadership. Together with your colleagues, you are expected to share responsibility for both your own unit and the facility as a whole.

Qualifications
We are looking for someone who collaborates easily and has the ability to engage others. You communicate clearly and can tailor your message based on your audience's circumstances. Since the role involves some customer contact, you also need the ability to manage customer relationships and that type of communication. You remain calm and professional even in demanding situations and have the ability to adapt to changed circumstances. In your professional role, you have an analytical perspective, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work with your employees to drive development and change initiatives within one of the world's best correctional systems.

We are looking for someone who has:
Academic education or other education combined with work experience
Management experience (personnel, work environment, and budget responsibility)
Good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing
Current experience working within the Swedish Correctional Services
It is also advantageous to have:
Documented leadership training
Experience from multiple operational areas within the Swedish Correctional Services
Experience with authority functions, preferably within the justice chain
Relevant experience from other public sector operations, preferably social work
Experience with procurement and tender processes
