About the Correctional Service The Correctional Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more staff members. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. When we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation services, detention facilities, and inmate transport. Kristianstad has a new detention facility with 120 places located in the new Justice Center district, and nearby there is a smaller older facility with 29 places. The workplace is equipped with, among other things, a large staff gym and staff restaurant with the option to purchase subsidized meals. As an employee of the Correctional Service, you have several benefits. Job Description As a correctional officer, you can contribute to a safer and more secure society. You work in a team together with other professionals and have the opportunity to help people break the cycle of crime. Working at a detention facility involves a focus on care and security and is a job with clear procedures. You will also work with surveillance and inspection duties as well as staff the surveillance center. You need to have a strong interest in security work as the job at the detention facility is based on preventative dynamic security thinking. Qualifications Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be confident, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. It is important that you share the Correctional Service's fundamental values of a humane view of people. Together with your colleagues, you drive the operations, so you need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required. We are looking for someone who has: Work experience, also in the form of seasonal work, temporary employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment. Complete upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the employer considers relevant Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing Good computer skills Class B driving license It is also beneficial to have: Completed military service/GMU or other equivalent training Experience of physical work Longer work experience from another profession than the Correctional Service Experience of working with security-related professions such as: pilot, in the armed forces, flight attendant, or firefighter Knowledge in relevant areas, for example conflict management, law, criminology, psychiatry, behavioral science Ability to intervene in pressing situations Work experience from correctional services, security work, social care, or health and care work Other Information The Correctional Service has chosen to remove the cover letter and replaced it with selection questions relevant to the position.
