About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more employees. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, detention centers, and inmate transportation. Job Description As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with clients. Working at a detention center means focusing on care and security and is a job with clear procedures. Some people are held in detention for long periods and only meet their lawyer and those who work at the detention center. This places special demands on you as a correctional officer. Working as a correctional officer means you can make a difference for other people and contribute to a better society. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane worldview, respect for the individual, and belief in human development. You will begin your employment at the workplace where you will receive an introduction lasting two to three weeks, during which you need to be available the entire time. Qualifications Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be confident, stable, have good self-awareness, good judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you drive the operations, so you need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. You must be able to act physically when required. For us, it is important that you share the Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane worldview, respect for the individual, and belief in human will and capacity to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect you and others. Furthermore, through your approach, you are expected to contribute to everyone being treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. We are looking for you who have: Complete upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Prison and Probation Service considers relevant Work experience, including seasonal work, temporary employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment Good knowledge of Swedish language, both spoken and written Good computer skills It is also a merit to have: Work experience from corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or health and care work Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management Relevant language skills Other Information The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has chosen to remove the personal letter and replaced it with selection questions that are relevant for the position.
