Community-based corrections is criminal justice that takes place in society, where a sentence in community-based corrections involves both control and support for the sentenced individuals. Community-based corrections is growing, we are receiving new and more comprehensive assignments, and we are now seeking new staff to fill various roles in our public mission. Community-based corrections operates according to the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's vision Better Out. The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is facing an expanded mandate, which means we now need to increase the number of staff at Halmstad Community-Based Corrections. Job Description We are now seeking someone who wants to work at our community-based corrections office in Halmstad in a role focused on security, service, and inspections, which includes client contact. As a correctional officer in community-based corrections, you contribute to a safer society. Your tasks include conducting secure access inspections and monitoring of clients under electronic monitoring, which includes home visits and workplace visits, as well as various service assignments. Your role also includes technical handling of and readiness for electronic monitoring enforcement, as well as community service inspections. Part of your time will be spent with a colleague in a vehicle, as we have large geographical areas to cover. You work closely with probation officers, administrators, and the prison inspector who is your direct manager. You work according to a schedule in a team with your colleagues. The schedule includes both evening and weekend shifts. Qualifications The role places high demands on personal suitability. As a correctional officer with service responsibilities in community-based corrections, you need to be confident, stable, and have good judgment. Together with your colleagues, you plan and conduct daily work, so you need to be flexible and have good cooperation skills. You are attentive and accommodating in your approach and have an interest, desire, and ability to help others. You should be both well-organized and someone who strives to provide solutions to both technical and practical challenges. It is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of human beings, respect for individuals, and the belief that people are capable of development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect you and others. Furthermore, your approach should contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally. We are seeking someone who has: Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service considers relevant Work experience, including seasonal work, temporary employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment Good knowledge of Swedish language in both speech and writing Good computer skills Category B driving license with good driving experience It is advantageous if you have: Relevant work experience within one or more of the following areas: criminal justice, security work, social care, psychiatry, healthcare and care work Experience with security inspections/access control or other technical work Knowledge or experience in conflict resolution or client-focused work Other language skills are advantageous Other Information The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has decided to remove the personal letter requirement and replace it with selection questions that are relevant to the position.
