We are the authority responsible for prisons, community corrections, remand facilities, and inmate transport.
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is a government agency that, together with police, prosecutors, and courts, is responsible for reducing crime and increasing public safety. The majority of those sentenced to correctional supervision are in community corrections. Community corrections is correctional supervision that takes place in society, where a community sentence involves both monitoring and support for the convicted. Community corrections is growing, we are receiving new and more extensive assignments, and we are now recruiting new staff to fulfill various roles in our mission to society.
Community corrections operates according to the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's vision "Better Out." The service is facing an expanded mandate, which is why we now need to increase our staff.
Job Description
We are now seeking you to work at Community Corrections Gothenburg, in a role focused on security, service, and inspections, where client contact is included.
As a correctional officer in community corrections, you contribute to a safer and more secure society. Your work tasks include security checks for safe entry clearance and follow-up of clients under electronic monitoring, including home visits and workplace visits, as well as various service assignments.
Your role also includes technical management of and readiness for enforcement with electronic monitoring, as well as community service inspections. Part of your working time will be spent with a colleague in a vehicle as we cover large geographical areas. You work closely with community corrections supervisors, administrators, and the correctional supervisor who is your direct manager. You work according to a schedule in a team with your colleagues. The schedule includes both evening and weekend shifts.
Qualifications
The role places high demands on personal suitability. As a correctional officer with service responsibilities in community corrections, you need to be secure, stable, and have good judgment. Together with your colleagues, you plan and carry out daily work, so you need to be flexible and have strong teamwork skills. You are attentive and accommodating in your interactions and have interest, willingness, and the ability to help others. You should be both organized and someone who strives to deliver solutions to both technical and practical challenges.
It is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's core values of a humane view of people, respect for the individual, and the belief that people are capable of development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect you and others. Furthermore, you are expected, through your approach, to contribute to everyone being treated equally. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We are seeking someone who has:
Complete upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service considers relevant
Work experience, including seasonal work, temporary employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment
Good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written
Good computer skills
Class B driver's license with good driving experience.
It is meritorious if you have:
Relevant work experience in one or more of the areas of correctional services, social care, health and social work
Experience with security clearance/access control or other technical work
FSK training
Knowledge or experience of conflict management or client-oriented work
Other language skills are meritorious.
