You work in a team with other professions to maintain a safe and secure operation and to motivate clients toward a life without crime. Clear routines are a natural part of your daily work. You are the one who opens the door to the client's room in the morning and locks it in the evening. You accompany clients to work and education, conduct searches, and supervise the recreation yard and exercise facility. You also have daily contact with clients to understand how they are doing, and you are part of release preparations. You will begin your employment at the workplace where you will receive an introduction over three weeks. After a period of service, you will be offered a place in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's basic training program, which is mandatory and comprises 8 weeks. You will receive pay during the entire training period. During the probationary period, ongoing assessments will be conducted regarding your suitability for permanent employment. In this recruitment process, information meetings will be held so you can get a better understanding of what it means to work at Skogome Prison. The information meetings will be held on two occasions, and if you are invited, you need to attend one of them. A separate invitation will be sent if you advance in the process. Qualifications Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be confident, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you drive the operations, so you need to have good collaboration skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required. We are looking for someone who has: Complete upper secondary education or other education in combination with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant Work experience, including in the form of seasonal work, temporary employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing Good computer skills It is also meritorious to have: Work experience from the correctional system, security work, social care, psychiatry, or health and care work Knowledge in relevant areas, for example behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management Relevant language skills Category B driver's license The Swedish Prison and Probation Service places great emphasis on personal suitability.
