The operations area Falun/Östersund/Gävle encompasses Falun Detention Center, Östersund Detention Center, and Gävle Detention Center. This position is for hourly temporary work at Gävle. As an hourly temporary employee, you will work within our operations in Gävle. Placement in Falun and Östersund is not part of this assignment. Gävle Detention Center is located in central Gävle. You help create a safer and more secure society by working in teams and together with other professionals to help people break the cycle of crime and motivate them not to reoffend. This is based on sharing the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in people's capacity to develop and change. At Gävle Detention Center, the focus is on dynamic security in daily contact with clients. Routines are a natural part of your work as you, together with your colleagues, conduct searches, supervise, and escort clients to various activities during their detention. The job is varied and client-focused – you follow up, observe, guide, and through various interventions try to help clients break isolation and improve their well-being. The work of a correctional officer also includes administrative tasks to plan, maintain, and document clients' time at the detention center. At Gävle Detention Center, special demands are placed on your judgment; you are expected to handle challenging situations and make the right decisions even under pressure and difficult circumstances. This position is for you who want to work as a correctional officer on an hourly temporary basis. This is a needs-based employment, meaning you will be scheduled for shifts when Gävle Detention Center has a need. This can mean individual days, but we would also like you to be able to work full-time during certain periods, such as Christmas, New Year, holidays, and summer. Qualifications Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you drive the operations, so you need good teamwork ability and be clear in your communication. You must be able to act physically when required. We are looking for someone who has: Completed upper secondary school education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service considers relevant Work experience, including seasonal work, hourly employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing Good computer skills Category B driver's license It is also a merit to have: Experience in security work is considered particularly meriting. Experience in service, psychiatry, or care and treatment operations is meriting. By care and treatment operations is meant, for example, hospitals, treatment homes, LSS-services, and similar operations.
