Eskilstuna Pastorat comprises Tunafors, St. Johannes, St. Ansgars, and Västra Rekarne parishes. The pastorat also includes a funeral services operation, two preschools, and a broad support function with expertise in administration, HR/payroll, finance, IT, communications, booking, and facilities. The Communications and Development Unit currently consists of six employees with various competencies – strategist/designer, photographer/designer, communicator, writer, audio, lighting, and image technician, and cultural heritage coordinator. Together, the unit works on communications and development for the pastorat's various operations, internally and externally, as well as on developing and communicating the Swedish Church's unique cultural heritage and cultural work. Duties Your task as Communications and Development Director will be to lead, distribute, coordinate, and develop the work within the Communications and Development Unit, both strategically and operationally. You are expected to work closely with the parish priest and other operations in the pastorat and are part of the pastorat's management group. You will be a clear representative of the Swedish Church in a world where we see a need for more communication about the Church's issues and our positions in public debate. Your main responsibilities: Personnel, operational, and budget responsibility for the Communications and Development Unit Plan, structure, and develop the unit's work on internal and external communications Enable and develop communication of the Swedish Church's unique cultural heritage and cultural expression Collaborate on communications and culture within the pastorat, throughout the entire Swedish Church, and into civil society Be part of the pastorat's strategic management group Operative work on communications and development together with the team You will be based at Fors Parish Hall in central Eskilstuna. Travel to the pastorat's various operations will be common, and travel outside the pastorat, with or without overnight stays, may occur. You will work primarily during office hours but to some extent also in the evenings and on weekends. As a relationship-building organization, presence at the workplace is the foundation for all our operations. For certain functions, remote work may occur to a limited extent, if the operation and work tasks permit it. Qualifications To succeed in the role of Communications and Development Director with us, you need to have: Academic education at least at the bachelor's level in the field of communications, or in another field that the pastorat deems relevant for the position Good grounding in and knowledge of the Swedish Church's work, through for example employment, trust assignments, or volunteer engagement Knowledge of work in communications and development Knowledge of working with non-profit and elected organizations. Very good skills in Swedish, spoken and written, as well as good skills in English, spoken and written Good computer skills B-class driver's license You must also share the Swedish Church's values and it is desirable that you are a member of the Swedish Church. Management or leadership experience may be a merit for the position. A work sample will be requested from the candidate who becomes relevant for the position. You may advantageously include such a sample in your application. As a person, you need to have a secure and clear foundational position in values that align with the Swedish Church's core values. You need to be clear in your communication and focused on collaborating and building good relationships both internally and externally.
