Meal Service is now seeking a kitchen assistant for a full-time temporary position at Vikingaskolan kitchen. Together with colleagues, you will help create joy in eating for our guests. About the role and your responsibilities As a kitchen assistant, you will be an active part of meal preparation working alongside your colleagues. You contribute to daily kitchen operations and ensure that food, offerings, and service maintain high quality. Good customer service is essential, as is your contribution to a positive meal experience for guests in the school restaurant. Your responsibilities include food preparation, cooking, special diets, food packaging, dishwashing, and cleaning. You participate in quality and efficiency work together with the coordinator and work team. Together with colleagues, you manage orders and work with food management software. You are also responsible for following routines and self-inspections according to food safety regulations and the Food Agency's requirements. The temporary position extends through June 18, 2027 with the possibility of extension. About you We are looking for someone with at least two years of work experience in large-scale kitchens. Experience with nutrition and meals in elderly care and working with food management software is a plus. As a kitchen assistant, you need strong collaboration and communication skills and a service-oriented approach. You have a flexible mindset and when changes occur, you can adapt and see new opportunities. You can organize, plan, and prioritize work efficiently. You must be able to communicate in Swedish both verbally and in writing, and good computer skills are required. About the workplace Meal Service encompasses 46 kitchens distributed across seven units and is responsible for preparing meals for preschools, primary schools, secondary schools, and elderly care. Approximately 20,000 portions are prepared daily by over 200 employees. The operation aims to provide good and nutritious food, promote healthy eating habits, and provide high-quality service. Vikingaskolan kitchen serves a grades 4-9 school with approximately 350 students. The kitchen also prepares meals for elderly care that are packaged and sent cold to various care facilities throughout Lund Municipality. The kitchen has one coordinator, four cooks, and eight kitchen assistants. The Service Department meets the needs of Lund Municipality's other departments and municipal companies. We have approximately 600 employees. Together, we work to build and maintain the municipality's buildings, facilities, and housing while ensuring they are intact, clean, and functioning properly. We prepare meals for the municipality's children, young people, and elderly, we care for green spaces around municipal buildings, and we manage the municipality's vehicles and transportation.
