Gothenburg's elementary school administration is one of the largest school administrations in Sweden. We are responsible for the city's municipal schools from preschool class through ninth grade, adapted elementary school, cultural school, and after-school programs. The administration includes 138 municipal elementary schools where almost 47,000 students attend school each day. We are now recruiting an engaged chef for our prep kitchen at Björlandaskolan F-6. Job Responsibilities As a chef, your responsibilities include planning and preparing school meals, special diets, salad buffet, bread baking and serving delicious and nutritious meals. Your duties also include pre- and post-work in the kitchen and dining hall, dishwashing and food waste management. Heavy lifting occurs in the kitchen environment. You will assist with ordering supplies and implementing the unit's self-inspection both independently and together with your colleagues. You should focus on sustainability and work with environmental meals. For us in Gothenburg City, environmental meals mean more vegetarian on the plate, reduced food waste, purchase of organic and environmentally adapted food products, and adjustment of menus according to season. In the area we work together and the workplace may vary if any of the other units in the area have a staffing shortage. You are part of a team that collaborates and helps each other with the tasks that exist in both the kitchen and dining hall. All employees with us are equally important, everyone can and should dare to try new things, learn from each other and share their experiences. We work daily in different IT systems for ordering, communication and meal planning. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is a trained chef and has several years of professional experience. You have knowledge and work experience in special diets and vegetarian cooking. It is a merit if you have worked in both private and municipal kitchens. For this position you must also have knowledge of self-inspection and food hygiene. You have good knowledge of large-scale kitchen production and special diets. To be able to administer orders, you need to have good IT skills. You have good knowledge of Swedish both spoken and written. You are a responsible person who, with independence and good judgment, makes decisions within the scope of your assignment.
