About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more staff members. The Umeå Operations Area encompasses the closed facility Umeå, the open facility Sörbyn, and the remand prison Umeå. We are undergoing significant capacity expansion with extensive renovation and new construction in the operations area. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but we also employ care professionals, administrative staff, educators, production managers, and others. At Sörbyn Facility, inmates participate in labor market training, learning centers, various treatment programs, or work in the kitchen, carpentry workshop, plant cultivation, textile production, etc. Sörbyn is an agricultural facility with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. At Umeå Facility, inmates work in wood/industrial production, the kitchen, learning centers, and treatment programs. To Umeå Facility and Remand Prison, it is approximately 10 minutes' walk from the nearest bus stop, and Sörbyn Facility is most easily reached by car. Staff parking is available at all units. Job Description As a cook, you prepare meals for inmates at the facilities and remand prison. The work tasks are typical of a large-scale kitchen: joint planning, procurement, preparation of lunch and dinner, and handling breakfast orders. The duties also include cleaning the kitchen facilities, dishwashing, and conducting self-checks in accordance with applicable legislation. Preparation and handling of special diets is included. The work is conducted in cooperation with other kitchen staff and personnel in other functions. An important part of the daily work involves supervising clients in the kitchen. You will receive an introduction when you start and will receive further training with courses required for the position. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is confident, stable, and has self-awareness. You remain calm and controlled in stressful situations and collaborate well with others. You have good judgment and take responsibility for your tasks.
