Do you want to help strengthen Helsingborg's work on climate adaptation and sustainable urban development? We are now looking for a climate strategist who wants to drive, coordinate and develop the city's work on meeting a changed climate – together with committed colleagues and partners.
About the workplace
The Urban Development Administration plans, builds, manages and develops Helsingborg. We create conditions for the city's residents, businesses and visitors and develop environments where people want to live, meet and thrive – a sustainable city that both we and Helsingborg residents can take pride in. We are 240 committed employees who work together creatively, smartly and with enthusiasm in an organization where innovation and development go hand in hand.
You will become part of the Master Planning unit in the Urban Planning Department. The unit consists of 12 employees with different backgrounds and expertise in areas such as planning, ecology, climate, water issues, GIS and social sciences. Together we work interdisciplinarily with both long-term strategies and concrete implementation projects that contribute to sustainable societal development.
Work tasks
You are our coordinator for planning and implementation of climate adaptation measures. Helsingborg is affected by both rising sea levels and heavy rainfall and extreme heat. We develop strategies in the master plan and have set the direction in our action plan. The task is to implement measures that are most beneficial and develop effective processes to prepare for a changed climate. You contribute knowledge and support in urban development and planning processes.
You are the person who follows developments in the field and drives these issues within the city. Much of the work takes place in cooperation with others in the administration, NSVA or others in the city. Innovation and development are important to us, so cooperation with researchers, government agencies and external actors is part of the work. We participate in collaborations with other actors both regionally and internationally.
The role involves both working strategically long-term and closely with concrete implementation issues.
What we offer
With us you get a meaningful assignment with great opportunities for development and wonderful colleagues who are passionate about societal development. Our office is centrally located, near Helsingborg Central Station, which provides good communication options and an attractive work environment. We value the balance between work and leisure, offer flexible working hours, remote work, up to 3,000 kronor per year in wellness allowance, salary exchange for pension and the opportunity to reduce working hours for ages 63+ and more.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with relevant higher education or university degree in, for example, physical planning, environment, climate, urban development or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
You have experience working with climate adaptation, sustainable urban development or related issues. It is meritorious if you have worked in public activities and have an understanding of municipal processes within urban development and the prerequisites of the politically controlled organization.
We would like to see that you have experience in:
strategic development work
project management, preferably in cooperation between different actors
work on issues related to water, heavy rainfall, coastal areas and risk management
To thrive in the role, you need to be independent, structured and have good ability to cooperate and drive issues forward. You are comfortable switching between strategic perspectives and practical implementation and can communicate complex issues clearly.
A driver's license for a car is a requirement. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
