Their service office in Solna consists of approximately 90 committed employees and provides support in areas such as purchasing, master data, marketing, e-commerce, finance, logistics, business systems, and store development and establishment. Responsibilities
As a Category Manager, you'll become a central part of Mestergruppen's purchasing department, with strategic responsibility for assortment, supplier relationships, and profitability within the categories of power tools, work clothes, flooring, and adhesives and grout. You'll combine strategic work with procurement, negotiations, and category development with operational tasks such as implementation across the store network and monitoring of purchasing statistics and results. The role requires strong business acumen, excellent analytical skills, and strong negotiation abilities. You have a strong interest in building materials and construction, and good market understanding is a merit.
You'll work closely with chains, members, suppliers, and internal support functions such as master data, marketing, sustainability, and sales, and help ensure that new products and solutions reach the members. The position involves no personnel responsibility, but you'll have significant mandate to drive change, improvements, and development within your categories. Onboarding and areas of responsibility will be adapted based on your background and experience.
Examples of tasks:
Manage assortment, purchasing prices, and supplier agreements within your categories
Conduct procurements and drive category development
Develop category and assortment plans based on market needs
Negotiate and develop supplier collaborations
Collaborate with members, marketing, and other internal support functions
Monitor purchasing statistics, profitability, and results
Education, Experience, and Personal Qualities
• At least three years of experience in an analytical role
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
• Very good Excel skills
• Experience from the construction industry is strongly merited. Experience from, for example, building materials retail, wholesale operations, or retail is seen as an advantage
• A master's degree in, for example, industrial economics, economics, purchasing, or another relevant field is merited
