The State Employment Agency (hereinafter – the Agency)
announces a competition for a vacant position:
Career Consultant at the Riga Regional Branch Client Service Center
(2 positions, 2 full-time equivalent, indefinite term)
Position Objective: To advise clients on career choices, provide informational and methodological support in the job search process and professional development, provide support to employers in selecting appropriate employees. Organize the participation of unemployed persons and job seekers in active employment measures and preventive unemployment reduction measures.
Requirements for Applicants:
Bachelor's or second-level professional higher education:
Obtained or obtaining (second-year student) a professional Master's degree in Education Science with a qualification – Career Consultant or a professional Master's degree in Human Resources Management or Psychology;
One year of experience in career counseling or two years of experience in client counseling (resolving social and/or employment issues), if you have obtained a Bachelor's degree in Pedagogy or Social Work;
Preferred one year of experience in career counseling, if you have obtained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a professional Master's degree in Education Science with a qualification as Career Consultant or Human Resources Management, or if you are currently a second-year student in the aforementioned Master's programs;
Work experience in career counseling of no less than five years, if you have obtained a Bachelor's or second-level professional higher education, except for those who have obtained or are obtaining (second-year student) a professional Master's degree in Education Science with a qualification as Career Consultant or a professional Master's degree in Human Resources Management;
Preferred work experience in employment and/or personnel selection;
Knowledge of applicable legal acts of the Republic of Latvia within the scope of your professional competence;
Customer orientation;
Counseling skills;
Knowledge of personnel selection processes;
Communication, planning, control, and analytical skills;
Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to work with office equipment;
An e-signature tool is required to perform the duties of this position.
Main Duties:
Provide individual and group career consultations in accordance with client wishes and consultation objectives, according to thematic division;
Identify and counsel target groups of clients (long-term unemployed, persons returning from parental leave, youth, persons with special needs, clients aged 50 plus, persons after serving a sentence of imprisonment, persons currently serving a sentence of imprisonment, etc.);
Taking into account client needs (including using profiling methods for unemployed persons) and suggestions, respecting the client's eligibility for service provision, determine measures to be included in the Individual Job Search Plan or Job Seeker's Card that would facilitate the client's return to the labor market;
Plan client participation and ensure the implementation of result-oriented indicators of career consultations approved by the Agency;
Organize and conduct appropriate candidate selection for filling vacant positions upon request of employers.

The Candidate Evaluation Commission will not evaluate applications that do not include the documents specified in the announcement.
We will contact those candidates who are selected for the second round of personnel selection.
The selection competition will be held in three rounds:
First Round – Evaluation of candidates' education and work experience based on submitted documents.
Second Round – Practical tasks, based on the results of which the candidate's professional knowledge will be assessed.
Third Round – Interview, during which the candidate's knowledge and competencies will be assessed according to the requirements set for the position.
Candidates who achieve a certain number of points in the test – practical task will be invited to the interview.
The Agency requests that applicants, when applying to participate in the selection competition, do not provide additional data, including special category personal data, that is not necessary to assess the applicant's suitability for the specific vacancy. If an applicant submits personal data that is not necessary within the scope of the selection process, it is considered that the applicant has consented to the processing of such personal data.
