About Justitiekanslern Justitiekanslern (JK) is the government's highest ombudsman and exercises legal oversight of government agencies' operations. JK provides rulings in cases concerning damages against the state and represents the state in such and certain other legal proceedings. JK safeguards freedom of the press and freedom of expression, and serves as the exclusive prosecutor in press and expression freedom cases. JK also exercises certain oversight of the legal profession as well as the application of legal aid by courts and government agencies. The agency currently has approximately 60 employees, most of whom are lawyers. The offices are located in beautiful and historic buildings on Riddarholmen in Stockholm. You can read more about JK's activities on our website, www.jk.se. Justitiekanslern's Administrative Unit currently consists of ten employees and an administrative director. The unit manages the agency's administration, including finances, personnel matters, case processing, procurement, and IT support. The administrative unit works closely with the agency's operational legal counsel. Justitiekanslern is a full-service customer of the Swedish Government Service Center. To strengthen the finance function at the agency, we are now seeking an economist/controller. Job Responsibilities As an economist/controller with us, you will work broadly with financial support and the financial matters that arise at a government agency. You will work independently but in close collaboration with management, primarily the administrative director, and with colleagues in the administrative unit. The responsibilities include work with accounting, budgeting, forecasts, follow-ups, and analysis. You will also handle tasks within ongoing operations such as invoice processing and handling damage compensation payments. The work is carried out partly in collaboration with the Swedish Government Service Center, which, among other things, handles ongoing accounting and monthly and annual closings. We expect you to be proactive in developing financial routines, processes, and methods. Other administrative tasks may also occur. Your Qualifications We are looking for someone with a university degree in a relevant field or equivalent competence that the employer considers equivalent. Additionally, you have at least a few years of experience working with budgeting, forecasts, follow-ups, and analysis in public sector operations. You also have excellent communication skills in both speech and writing, as well as experience working in Excel and Agresso or equivalent programs. Your Characteristics In the role of economist/controller, you need to be able to work independently but also have excellent collaboration skills and enjoy being part of a team. It is important that you are thorough and that you can work efficiently. A requirement is that you appreciate varying tasks and are not hesitant about helping where needed. We therefore place great emphasis on your personal qualities. Employment Terms The employment is full-time and is a permanent position that begins with a six-month probationary period. The position is classified in the security class, which means we will conduct a security clearance. You therefore need to be a Swedish citizen.
