Latvijas Nacionālā bibliotēka (hereinafter – LNB) announces a competition for a vacant JURIST position (profession code – 2611 01) 1 position for an indefinite period We are looking for a new colleague – a jurist with an interest in copyright law and a desire to address in depth the legal issues related to it, as well as actively participate in other legal management processes of LNB. Key job responsibilities (job duties are expected to be performed primarily on-site at LNB premises, Mūkusalas iela 3, Riga): ensure that LNB operations comply with copyright and related rights regulations by providing legal consultations and opinions on copyright application; provide legal support on matters related to digitization, digital content use in Digitalabiblioteka.lv and other LNB digital resources, artificial intelligence technology use, large-scale data acquisition and analysis (text and data mining), as well as other digital environment and intellectual property rights issues; draft and evaluate contract proposals related to the use of copyright objects, licensing, transfer of proprietary rights, and other intellectual property matters; represent LNB interests in copyright matters through cooperation with state and local government institutions, international institutions, and other interested parties; participate as directed by management in: providing legal advisory support to LNB management, heads of structural units, and specialists in LNB's areas of work; drafting, reviewing, evaluating regulatory acts and other documents, and providing opinions; preparing LNB positions on various matters related to LNB's areas of work; preparing responses to letters, complaints, and submissions from other institutions, natural and legal persons. Requirements for candidates: higher legal education; experience in legal work. Experience in the public sector is desirable; good knowledge of copyright law. Desirable experience in copyright matters: practical experience in drafting external and internal regulatory acts and preparing opinions; excellent knowledge of the structure, operating principles, and regulatory framework of public administration; ability to work with large volumes of information, analyze it, and draw conclusions; excellent cooperation and communication skills; knowledge of the state language at an advanced level; knowledge of English at a level that ensures the performance of job duties related to cooperation with foreign partners and international institutions; ability to work both in a team and independently; sense of responsibility and accuracy.
