The Legal Department is a national department at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service headquarters. The department is responsible for directing and driving the authority's work on legal matters, providing legal support to all levels of the authority, issuing statements to various supervisory bodies, making initial and review decisions in client matters, representing the Swedish Prison and Probation Service in legal proceedings, and handling compensation and damages cases that do not fall under other departments. Additionally, the department is responsible for the authority's advisory national legal emergency preparedness. The Client Legal Unit fulfills the Legal Department's responsibilities in the client legal area. The Unit's sections for general client legal matters are now seeking a legal counsel with placement at the regional office in Örebro. The Legal Department takes advantage of the opportunity to establish remote work agreements, which means that up to 60% of work can be done from home. Job Description As a legal counsel for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, one of your main tasks will be to handle and make decisions in review cases where initial decisions have been made by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's local facilities, including prisons and remand facilities. You will also participate in coordinating and developing case law in Swedish Prison and Probation Service legal matters and be responsible for daily legal advice to local and regional levels. You will represent the Swedish Prison and Probation Service in court proceedings regarding client decisions. You may also handle cases involving compensation for damage. Your work will also include training other employees within the authority and developing proposed statements in supervisory matters, participating in legal monitoring of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's activities, and responding to internal requests and participating in various operational development projects. On-call duty outside regular office hours may also be relevant. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is confident, stable, and has self-awareness. You work well with others but can also structure your own working methods to drive processes forward. In your work, you make correct assessments and prioritizations by weighing complex information and solving problems. You see the big picture, analyze, and take the broader perspective into account.
