Do you want to make a difference? 19,916 students did not complete compulsory school in Sweden in the 2023/2024 school year. There are schools where 7 out of 10 students do not meet upper secondary school eligibility requirements. At the non-profit Foundation Homework Help, you contribute your expertise and commitment to help more students achieve eligibility requirements with confidence for the future. We are now recruiting new homework helpers in Stockholm! We are looking for you who are interested in a paid side job and at the same time want to make a concrete social impact. The position is an hourly employment in afternoons/evenings and involves briefly being a homework helper after school hours at one of our partner schools. Here you work in a team of three homework helpers where you are all university students. You receive training in, and work according to, our structured approach. Each homework help group consists of 15 students and together with your colleagues you are responsible for planning, implementing and following up the work. As a homework helper, you can either work as a regular homework helper or as a substitute. As a regular homework helper you work 6 hours per week spread over two scheduled afternoons/evenings (opportunity for extra substitution work is available). As a substitute you work when regular homework helpers are on leave or sick. The work is carried out after school hours in the school's facilities. We are looking for you who: - Are a university or college student - Have pedagogical ability and can communicate and build relationships with children and young people. - Are solution-oriented, take initiative and can work according to our structured approach and method. - Have broad basic subject competence and good study techniques. - Share the Foundation Homework Help's values and vision of a society where all children grow up with the conditions to succeed in school and shape their own future. Since the job involves working with children, we place great importance on personal suitability. Providing an extract from the police criminal record register to the employer is a statutory requirement for working with children and young people. The differences between schools, where you live, where you come from and what your parents work with increasingly determine how likely it is that you will succeed in school. The Foundation Homework Help is a non-profit foundation that operates where it is needed most. Homework Help is free for students and homework helpers' salaries are financed through support from the business sector and public sector. Homework Help is a concrete initiative that addresses one of Sweden's biggest problems today - that more and more young people are not succeeding in school and risk being excluded from society. Carefully selected, paid university students help young people with their studies two evenings a week and at the same time serve as positive role models and mentors. Since our start in 2007 we have developed a structured approach and a clear goal - grades should improve and students should progress to upper secondary school. Today we operate in over 100 schools including Stockholm, Södertälje, Västerås, Norrköping, Gothenburg, Landskrona, Umeå, Sundsvall, Uppsala, Gävle and Malmö.
