We are now recruiting a network technician to Umeå Municipality DoIT – be part of building a smarter and safer city! Do you want to help ensure stable and secure IT infrastructure for thousands of users – every day? We are now seeking an additional IT infrastructure specialist with a focus on networks for our Network & Telephony team. Umeå Municipality's internal network spans a large geographic area and encompasses all municipal operations as well as several municipal companies. We are present at approximately 500 locations, manage around 1,000 switches and 3,000 wireless access points that together handle tens of thousands of connections – and the network continues to grow. Umeå Municipality IT is also the host municipality in regional IT collaboration, where we are responsible for, among other things, telephony and data center operations for several municipalities in Västerbotten. Your Tasks You will work with operation, development and troubleshooting of our fixed and wireless networks. The role involves both operational work and participation in projects and system implementations where network expertise is crucial. You will become part of an experienced team where collaboration, knowledge sharing and quality are in focus. You will also work with the integration of new solutions in larger operational environments, as well as contribute to the development and improvement of working methods, routines and documentation. The role involves close collaboration with other IT specialists and operations, as well as providing support and advice to colleagues and other functions. The role also includes on-call work according to schedule, which is an important part of ensuring high availability in our socially critical IT services. Heavy lifting may occur in the work. About You We are looking for someone who takes responsibility, sees the whole picture in complex operational environments and is confident in problem-solving, as well as identifying opportunities and managing risks. Supporting and guiding colleagues comes naturally to you, and you adapt your communication to the recipient and situation. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Requirements University or college education in data, IT or network technology or equivalent experience Experience working as a network technician/infrastructure specialist Experience with operation and management of larger network environments Experience with fixed and wireless networks Experience with troubleshooting and problem-solving in production environments B-level driver's license Flawless knowledge of Swedish language in speech and writing, as well as good knowledge of English Merits Certifications in networks, e.g. Cisco (CCNA/CCNP or equivalent) Specialization in network design, security or wireless networks Experience with Cisco environments and support systems, e.g. Cisco ISE, Catalyst Center, Unified Communications Manager Experience with large, complex and geographically distributed networks Experience with fixed and mobile telephony Experience with collaboration between multiple organizations/principals Experience with socially critical operations or public sector With us you have the opportunity to work long-term, stably and with clear social benefit – together we are building a smarter city.
