Description The Swedish Coast Guard is seeking a senior ILS/IPS engineer for the Support and Shipping Unit within the Material and Facilities Supply Department, based in Karlskrona. The Support and Shipping Unit (SRE) is a central support function within the Swedish Coast Guard's material and facilities supply department. The unit serves as a hub for specialist expertise in maritime safety, technical services, logistics, and operational development and contributes to ensuring that the agency's vessels, equipment, and support systems can be used safely, efficiently, and in a long-term sustainable manner. Responsibilities The role involves significant personal responsibility and considerable influence over how the Swedish Coast Guard approaches lifecycle management of technical systems. You will be a key person in developing processes, working methods, and requirements while supporting operations in strategic and operational matters related to procurement, modification, operation, and maintenance. Your main areas of responsibility: Establish and implement IPS operations within the Swedish Coast Guard. Develop processes, methods, and governing documents within IPS/ILS. Prepare requirement specifications for procurements and modifications. Ensure supplier requirements from a lifecycle perspective. Develop and analyze maintenance and support concepts. Conduct Life Cycle Cost analyses (LCC). Work with reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM). Prepare technical documentation and instructions. Serve as an internal expert and advisor within IPS. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: Engineering degree in a relevant field, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or systems engineering. Several years of experience working within ILS/IPS or equivalent areas. Experience with requirements specification in procurement, preferably from industry or shipbuilding. Experience independently driving development work, establishing working methods, or leading specialist areas. Good understanding of the lifecycle perspective, from concept development to operation and decommissioning. Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. It is meritorious if you also have: Experience from maritime operations, the defense sector, or a state agency Knowledge of LCC, RAM, and logistics support Experience with public procurement Experience establishing or developing IPS/ILS processes in a larger organization The role involves many points of contact, both internally and externally, which requires strong collaboration skills and a confidence-building approach to work.
