International Student Ambassadors

Today we offer approximately 80 master's programs and several bachelor's programs taught in English that are open to international applicants. To communicate with prospective and current international students, we use student ambassadors – current students who can represent the university and share their experiences of what it's like to be a student at Gothenburg University. Student ambassadors also participate in the university's welcome program and various events throughout the academic year to give international students a good start to their studies. We are now seeking approximately 18 international student ambassadors. The position is placed at the Communications Unit, which is part of the university's central administration. We work with communication in many different areas: press, research communication, digital channels, student recruitment, visual identity, and more. Work tasks also occur at the university's International Centre. Work Tasks As an international student ambassador, you are part of a team of approximately 15-20 ambassadors from around the world with different educational backgrounds and fields of study. The main tasks for our ambassadors are: To communicate with prospective international students with a focus on providing information about what it's like to study at Gothenburg University. To support our welcome program for new international students and participate in events throughout the academic year. To create and manage content for social media: Some student ambassadors will have a special focus on working with the university's student account on Instagram. The tasks as a student ambassador are varied and flexible, and during the academic year there is an opportunity to engage in different activities. Examples of specific work tasks include: Participating in and hosting webinars and digital events Participating in virtual education fairs Creating content for social media Planning and conducting events for new students (e.g., preparations, logistics, activities during the event, and acting as a guide for visitors) Organizing social activities for new and current international students Participating in information sessions on various topics, such as life in Sweden, exchange studies, and internship opportunities For student ambassadors working with content creation: Developing ideas, producing and publishing posts, stories and reels, and managing the university's student account on Instagram The employment is intermittent/as needed and is paid on an hourly basis. There are no fixed working hours, and during the academic year different periods will be more or less work-intensive. As an international student ambassador, your assignments are flexible, and you can contribute with your own experiences and interests. You can plan much of your work independently or work together with other ambassadors – naturally always in a way that fits with your studies. You will be able to perform your work from home but are also welcome to visit the Communications Unit's and International Centre's offices for meetings and work sessions. Qualifications You are a student at Gothenburg University You are studying an international bachelor's or master's program You have very good skills in written and spoken English You can inspire prospective international students and enjoy sharing your own experiences as a student at the university, in Gothenburg, and in Sweden You are comfortable speaking and giving presentations to many people in English, both digitally and in person, to individual persons as well as to groups or from a stage You are organized and have a talent for conveying information in a clear and precise manner Meriting: experience with similar work tasks If you are interested in working with content creation for social media: You have experience creating content for social media, especially Instagram To be suitable for this assignment, you need to have a service-oriented attitude and enjoy working with people. We place great emphasis on personal qualities such as teamwork ability, motivation, and responsibility. For this role, special weight will be placed on personal suitability. Employment The employment is an intermittent employment from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027 with placement at the Communications Unit in Gothenburg. Hourly rate: 160 kr.
