About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding existing ones, and we are now seeking more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. When we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand facilities, and prisoner transportation. The International Research Coordinator will work primarily with two organizational units within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service: the Research and Evaluation Unit and the International Unit. The Research and Evaluation Unit works to ensure that activities conducted within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service maintain high quality, are efficient, and develop in line with science and proven experience. The unit monitors and evaluates various interventions using scientific methods, conducts its own research, and collaborates with other researchers both nationally and internationally. The unit regularly publishes reports and scientific articles and organizes various types of seminars. The International Unit (IE) is responsible for coordinating and long-term development of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's international activities within four sub-areas: international civil crisis management via the UN, EU, and international networks; international development work; cooperation within the framework of Frontex; and coordination of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's international visits and conference activities. Job Description As an International Research Coordinator at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, you will work to identify and coordinate current international research and relevant research networks within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's areas of interest. Your duties include developing, systematizing, and prioritizing the Research and Evaluation Unit's international environmental scanning, as well as independently assessing which research studies and networks are highly relevant to Swedish corrections. Half of your time will be spent on assignment for Europris, an association of European correctional organizations. You will assist Europris in developing a research strategy, organizing research conferences, and identifying both relevant research and knowledge gaps. The position is based at the Research and Evaluation Unit but requires close dialogue and cooperation with the International Unit. Most of the unit's employees are based in Stockholm. Qualifications For the position of International Research Coordinator, we are looking for someone who works well with others and finds it easy to make new contacts. In your communication, you are skilled at conveying your message to different types of stakeholders both verbally and in writing. Furthermore, you structure, organize, and prioritize your tasks efficiently and take personal responsibility for driving your work forward. You enjoy working with highly complex issues and have the ability to solve complicated problems. We are looking for someone who has: A licentiate or doctoral degree in a subject relevant to the position Experience working with international research issues within an area relevant to the Swedish Prison and Probation Service Experience with research coordination Experience with international work Experience in orally and in writing compiling and presenting research results to audiences outside academia Very good knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods Good knowledge of European corrections and/or corrections research Very good ability to work independently Very good ability to express yourself well orally and in writing in Swedish and English It is also a merit to have: Education in research communication Experience working in a government agency, preferably the Swedish Prison and Probation Service Experience working in multilateral contexts Experience with foreign service assignments Experience in project or process management Experience organizing conferences and seminars Good knowledge of European cooperation within areas relevant to the position Other Information The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has chosen to remove the personal letter and replaced it with selection questions that are relevant to the position.
