We are now seeking an experienced interim chief for a temporary assignment at a unit within Animal Protection and Veterinary Affairs. This role suits you if you are a confident and action-oriented leader with solid experience in management, occupational health issues, and change leadership. Our client is a government agency with an important mission to society. You will lead a specialist operation where quality, legal certainty, and collaboration are central to the mandate. The role involves creating structure, clarity, and good conditions for employees to achieve the organization's goals. Your Tasks You will lead an operation consisting of approximately 12 employees with specialized expertise, including animal protection officers and veterinarians. The assignment focuses on creating structure, peace of mind, and clarity in daily work as well as ensuring a sustainable work environment. Animal protection expertise is not a requirement – your leadership is what matters. During the initial period, you are expected to build trust, familiarize yourself with the operation's practices, and identify and address occupational health risks. You will also work closely with the department head and HR on priorities, staffing needs, and developing a job specification for a permanent management position. Your Main Responsibilities - Lead, coach, and develop employees in daily work. - Ensure a good work environment and manage occupational health and rehabilitation matters. - Create structure, clear priorities, and functioning follow-up. - Handle employee matters, difficult conversations, and employer issues. - Collaborate with HR and the department head and conduct regular reporting. - Work with status analysis and action plans. Your Profile We are looking for someone with: - Documented experience in management with personnel, occupational health, and operational responsibility. - Experience in quickly creating structure and stability in complex or demanding operations. - Solid experience in occupational health work, risk assessments, and rehabilitation matters. - Ability to handle employee matters, performance challenges, and difficult conversations. - Good understanding of public operations, governmental authority, and formal decision-making processes. Availability for start by August 24, 2026, or by agreement. The assignment runs until year-end with the possibility of extension through March 2027. It is an advantage if you have experience in leadership within government operations or supervisory activities, as well as experience leading qualified specialist groups. We would like to see that you have worked with change management and development of methods, follow-up, and governance in complex operations. Knowledge of animal protection or veterinary operations is an advantage, but management, leadership ability, and the ability to create structure carry more weight. Scope and Location - Full-time - Location: Nyköping - Office presence at least four days per week.
