About the Position SMHI in Gothenburg is seeking an interim manager for the Oceanographic Measurement Technology group with nine employees. The group is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and management of oceanographic measurement systems on buoys, bottom installations, and vessels. The role involves leading and developing the operations, ensuring deliverables, supporting employees, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities: - Operations, personnel, work environment, and budget responsibility (18-19 million SEK/year) - Ensure well-functioning operations with maintained delivery capacity. - Oversee budget monitoring and cost control. - Promote a good work environment and sustainable leadership. - Participate in the unit's management group and contribute to the strategic development of operations. - Drive the development of work methods, processes, and collaboration. - Participate in certain field visits and operations-related activities. SMHI is a Swedish expert authority with a global perspective, tasked with forecasting changes in weather, water, and climate. Important collaboration partners include the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management, the Swedish Armed Forces, SLU Aqua, SLU Ship Unit, and several internal groups within SMHI. Assignment Period and Scope This position is a full-time consulting assignment starting 2026-11-01 or earlier, expected to continue through 2027-12-31, with the possibility of extension. Work is primarily conducted at SMHI's office at Nya varvet in Gothenburg during office hours. Travel within Sweden may occur. Requirements for the Position: • Multiple years of experience in management roles with full personnel, operations, and budget responsibility within the past 10 years. • Experience leading knowledge-intensive and/or technically oriented operations within the past 10 years. • Strong competence in change management and operations development. • Experience with budget work, financial monitoring, and resource planning. • Communicate fluently in Swedish, both spoken and written. • Good ability to express yourself in English, both spoken and written. • Be available for interview in week 38 on-site at the authority's office in Gothenburg. • Provide at least one (1) reference assignment from a similar assignment.
