Interim Director of Social Services Administration

We are seeking an experienced interim Director of Social Services Administration for a consulting assignment within a municipal social services administration in a politically governed organization. The assignment includes overall responsibility for operations, finances, and employer matters, as well as leadership of the administration's managers. About the Role The role is to step in as interim director of the municipality's social services, covering individual and family care, elderly care, disability support, and municipal health and medical services during an ongoing recruitment process. The assignment involves serving as the responsible party before the Social Board to conduct operations and participate in the Municipal Manager's leadership group. The responsibility encompasses approximately 850 employees with direct employer responsibility for five operational managers. As a temporary director, the assignment includes examining the operations with great curiosity to identify opportunities for improvements and development ahead of the handover to the incoming director. Areas of Responsibility You represent the employer and are ultimately responsible for operations before the Board regarding operations, finances, and employer matters. Lead the administration's managers and develop the administration's leadership. Ensure that employees have genuine influence and take responsibility for operational development. Responsible for decisions, preparation, follow-up, and control. Your Background, Experience, and Competence Academic degree, at minimum a bachelor's degree, in a field the employer deems relevant for the operational area (merits: law, digital operational development, leadership and governance). Multiple years of experience working as a manager of managers in politically governed operations. Documented experience leading other managers and achieving measurable improvements through implementing improvements within operational development, work environment, employee engagement, sick leave, or organizational restructuring. Good knowledge of: current legislation (Municipal Act, Administrative Act, Social Services Act) systematic work environment management organizational and social work environment rehabilitation competence supply change management union cooperation Merits: Experience working directly or as a first-line manager within social services' regulatory operations.
