DUTIES

We are now seeking an instructor for the Training and Education Unit, stationed at Eriksberg in Hallstahammar. Here you will find our modern training facility with excellent opportunities to conduct training and exercises in an inspiring environment.
The Training and Education Unit is responsible for planning, implementing, and developing both internal and external training and exercise activities within Räddningstjänsten Mälardalen. The unit works to ensure that the organization's employees have the right skills and abilities to meet future demands and challenges.
The unit consists of dedicated employees with broad experience in fire and rescue services, training, and exercise activities.
The position is varied and offers great opportunities to develop both yourself and others. You will plan, lead, and conduct both internal and external training, as well as contribute to the development of the union's training and exercise activities.
Examples of External Training
As an instructor, you will conduct training in, among other areas:
• Practical fire suppression and clothing fires
• CPR and first aid
• Evacuation
• Bleeding control
You will also participate in and conduct internal training, including GRIB and RHUB training. The training areas you are responsible for will be adapted based on your experience and qualifications.
Examples of Internal Training
• Chainsaw operation training
• Terrain and driver training
• Basic smoke and chemical diving training
• RDL training
• Introduction for summer staff
• Shoreline fire suppression training
The role also includes planning and conducting exercises for both full-time and part-time personnel, as well as contributing to the development of training materials and training methods.
Travel within the union's geographic area occurs regularly in this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience as an instructor and educator in fire and/or CPR
Experience working as a full-time or part-time firefighter or nurse with experience from ambulance services.
Class B driver's license or higher
Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing
It is meritorious if you are an instructor in fire safety, traffic, vehicles, shoreline fire suppression, healthcare, and/or chainsaw operation, as well as if you have some form of pedagogical education.
To thrive and succeed in the role, you are a confident and stable person with good teamwork skills. You have a positive attitude, create engagement in others, and contribute with energy, drive, and enthusiasm to your work.
You work in a structured and independent manner while being flexible and able to adapt easily to the needs of the operations. You have a genuine interest in learning and pedagogy and are motivated by developing other people's knowledge and abilities.
We also see that you are initiative-taking, take responsibility, and have a desire to continuously develop in your role as an instructor and educator.

Räddningstjänsten Mälardalen is a municipal association where the municipalities of Arboga, Hallstahammar, Kungsör, Köping, Surahammar, and Västerås together are responsible for fire and rescue services and prevention work. Our mission is to create security for people who live, work, and stay in the region by preventing accidents, managing rescue operations, and strengthening society's preparedness.
