Core Facilities, Sahlgrenska Academy at University of Gothenburg, is seeking an Institution Technician/Animal Care Specialist for the Department of Experimental Biomedicine (EBM).
Core Facilities is an open university-wide research infrastructure for Life Science research. We are located at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, and provide access to some of Sweden's most advanced technologies and analytical tools for research in, for example, medicine, biomedicine, and clinical studies.
Experimental Biomedicine (EBM) is a multifunctional research facility within Core Facilities that offers infrastructure, expert knowledge, and training for research involving animal studies. EBM is also a national competency center and has an MRI imaging facility. Animal welfare as well as the 3R principles (Replace, Refine, and Reduce) are integrated into all aspects of EBM's operations and policy.
Do you have an interest in natural sciences and animals and want to combine that with a broad assignment to support research that benefits society and patients?
We are now seeking an experienced institution technician and animal care specialist for EBM who, with quality awareness in focus, wants to work with us and drive the development of research support forward!
Duties
Animal care, supervision, materials handling, documentation, and maintenance of records and procedures. Study support within research and work with the development and implementation of the 3R principles in operations.
Qualifications
You have completed training in laboratory animal science (LAS course) or a completed upper secondary course in Animals for Research Purposes (DJFDJU0), as well as more than one year of experience (full-time) with animal room work in a laboratory animal facility. You have the ability to independently be responsible for and carry out all tasks related to animal room work and have practical experience in study support.
We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who takes responsibility and strives to achieve common goals with the highest quality.
As a person, you are flexible, collaborate well with your coworkers, and contribute to good morale in the group.
You are comfortable working both in a team and independently.
You have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing, in Swedish and English, as both languages are spoken among colleagues and researchers.
Employment
The employment is a permanent full-time position, 100%, placed at EBM within Core Facilities, University of Gothenburg. A six-month probationary period may apply. Some weekend work may occur. Employment start: September 1.
