State Police Kurzeme Regional Directorate Southern Kurzeme District Investigation Department Inspector (Criminal Investigation Group) in Saldū Occupation code – 3355 13 Candidates who have not previously served in institutions of the Interior Ministry system or the Prison Administration will be required to complete professional development training in 3-month courses in Riga at the State Police College by November 23, 2026! Main duties: When there is cause and grounds for initiating a criminal proceeding, promptly initiate criminal proceedings for the detection of criminal offenses committed in the territory served by the State Police regional directorate district and conduct necessary pre-trial investigation independently or as part of an investigation group until the person to be held criminally liable is identified and sufficient evidence is obtained to initiate criminal prosecution; Independently or as a member of an investigation group investigate criminal proceedings received from the direct supervisor; Timely make decisions to refuse to initiate criminal proceedings if circumstances preclude criminal proceedings; Conduct investigation organizational, planning and record-keeping work; Execute instructions from the direct supervisor and supervising prosecutor in pending criminal proceedings to ensure that criminal proceedings are conducted purposefully and without unjustified delay; Make decisions in criminal proceedings on investigation direction and investigation conduct, except in cases requiring a court decision or prosecutor approval; Ensure the legality of adopted decisions and timely performance of investigation activities; Independently review submissions, complaints and requests in compliance with regulatory requirements. Requirements for candidates: Compliance with the requirements established in Articles 4 and 7 of the Law on Special Service of officials in institutions of the Interior Ministry system and the Prison Administration; First-level professional higher education (law, civil and military defense, business and administration, social and human sciences, computer science); State (Latvian) language proficiency – highest level C; Category B driver's license; Activated secure electronic signature.
