State Police Riga Regional Police Authority Public Order Police Department Response Bureau Inspector Occupation Code – 335513 Main Job Duties: Respond to information about criminal offenses or other legal violations, proceed to the scene of the incident. Conduct patrols and implement necessary security measures to prevent and detect violations, detain offenders, prevent unauthorized activities and disturbances. When detecting an administrative violation, initiate and ensure proceedings in an administrative violation case, make decisions in the prescribed manner. Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and prevent violations while on patrol routes (according to assignment) or while at a patrol post. Initiate and conduct departmental inspections. Detain intoxicated individuals in private residences who may cause harm to themselves or others, or when surrounding individuals are afraid to remain alone with such person, and hold such persons in police custody. Make police decisions on detention. Ensure verification of persons, documents, and vehicles in information systems. Perform data entry into information systems. Conduct alcohol and other intoxicating substance testing in the manner prescribed by law. Provide assistance to victims, identify witnesses to incidents or offenses, ensure cordoning off and protection of the incident scene. Search for, detain persons wanted, vehicles and property, and detain persons held under suspicion of committing criminal offenses and administrative violations. Carry out procedural actions in criminal proceedings on assignment of the criminal case supervisor. Requirements for Candidates: Compliance with requirements set forth in Articles 4 and 7 of the Law on the Service Career of Officials with Special Service Ranks in the Ministry of Interior System Institutions and Penitentiary Authority; First-level professional higher education (thematic fields: law; civil and military defense; transport services; business and administration; computer science; social and behavioral sciences; humanities; teacher education and educational sciences; engineering and technology; information and communication sciences); Good computer skills (MS Word and MS Excel); State language proficiency level – C level, Grade 1; Category B driver's license. Candidates who have not previously served in Ministry of Interior System Institutions or the Penitentiary Authority must complete the 3-month professional development program "Fundamentals of Police Work for State Police Officials" at the State Police College.
