Rescue Service Greater Gothenburg (RSG) is seeking an Incident Commander for the Operational Leadership and Training division (OpLU). This is a combination position with primary focus on operational duty in the incident commander function, complemented by administrative tasks within operational leadership. About Rescue Service Greater Gothenburg Rescue Service Greater Gothenburg (RSG) is a municipal association with nine member municipalities: Göteborg, Härryda, Kungsbacka, Lerum, Lilla Edet, Mölndal, Partille, Stenungsund, and Tjörn. Together, we are responsible for rescue services and preventive fire safety for approximately 900,000 residents. Our mission is to prevent and limit accidents, prepare and conduct rescue operations, take measures following accidents, and contribute to society's crisis management. Through high competence, close collaboration, and continuous development, we work to create safety and security for people who live, stay, and work in the region. About the Position As an Incident Commander, you are part of the operational leadership organization and primarily serve as a rescue leader in medium-sized rescue operations. When the regional incident commander is the rescue leader, you serve in the role of operations chief. You may also be part of the on-duty rescue chief staff or serve as a liaison person in contact with other organizations. Most assignments are carried out within Rescue Service Greater Gothenburg's geographic area, but the function may be deployed within the entire Western Rescue Region (VRR) as well as in certain cases for rescue assistance to other rescue management systems. The assignment demands high operational competence, good judgment, and the ability to make decisions and create structure and direction in complex and rapidly changing situations. In addition to operational duty, administrative tasks related to operational leadership are included. Work tasks may include operation preparation, planning and implementation of exercises, and development and follow-up of operational procedures. If you do not already work in RSG's management system, the introduction will be tailored to your experience and provide you with the necessary foundation to work in the role within RSG and VRR. Your Profile We are looking for someone who is currently an Incident Commander, a relief in the incident commander function, or an experienced crew leader with training and qualifications to develop into the role of Incident Commander. You have experience in operational leadership within rescue services and are confident in making decisions even under time pressure. You have the ability to create structure, prioritize, and lead operations in situations where conditions can change rapidly. The work involves many contact points and therefore requires good collaboration skills. You communicate clearly, cooperate attentively, and feel comfortable representing the organization in various contexts. At the same time, you have integrity, good judgment, and the ability to make independent assessments. Qualifications At least Leadership Course for Crew Leaders, including the qualifying sub-course for rescue leaders, or equivalent training according to the previous training model from MSB. Alternatively, a fire engineering degree with supplementary training in rescue services (RUB). As Rescue Leadership B (RLB) and Supervision A are formal requirements for the position, if you lack these qualifications, you will be given the opportunity to complete them as part of your introduction.
