An official is a person with appropriate professional education, qualifications and special service rank, who has taken an oath and serves in the Administration. The rights and duties of an official are determined by the State Penitentiary Administration Law and the Service Law for Officials with Special Service Ranks of the Interior Ministry System Institutions and the State Penitentiary Administration. Vacancy: Senior Inspector, Resocialization Department at Riga Central Prison, 5413 02 Employment: Full-time Salary: from 1795 EUR Work Location: State Penitentiary Administration Riga Central Prison – Mazā Matīsa iela 5, Riga, LV-1009 Contact Information: 22043004, [email protected] Submit CV and motivation letter to: [email protected]; [email protected] Candidate Requirements: Compliance with requirements established in the Service Law for Officials with Special Service Ranks of Interior Ministry System Institutions and the State Penitentiary Administration: - Latvian citizen; - Age 18 to 50 years; - First level professional higher education in legal sciences, civil and military defense, social and human sciences, teacher education and educational sciences, social welfare, humanities, business sciences and administration; - Latvian language proficiency at least C level, stage 2; - Physical fitness meets Cabinet of Ministers requirements (Cabinet of Ministers Regulation No. 288 of 28.05.2013 "Physical Fitness Requirements for Officials with Special Service Ranks of Interior Ministry System Institutions and the State Penitentiary Administration"); - Health condition and psychological characteristics meet Cabinet of Ministers requirements (Cabinet of Ministers Regulation No. 970 of 21.11.2006 "Regulations on Health Condition and Psychological Characteristics Required for Officials with Special Service Ranks and Official Position Candidates of Interior Ministry System Institutions and the State Penitentiary Administration and the Procedure for Checking Health Condition and Psychological Characteristics"); - Not convicted of an intentional criminal offense – regardless of criminal record expungement or removal; - Not sentenced for an intentional criminal offense with exemption from punishment; - Not prosecuted for committing an intentional criminal offense, except where an official has been prosecuted but criminal proceedings against them have been terminated on a basis providing rehabilitation; - Not recognized as legally incapable in the manner prescribed by law; - Not dismissed from service in the Interior Ministry System or State Penitentiary Administration due to a disciplinary sanction of dismissal; - Good computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint); - Ability to plan and organize work, execute assigned tasks in priority order; - Good communication skills, high psychological resilience; - Ability to work both in a team and individually; - High sense of responsibility, analytical thinking, ability to work under high-intensity conditions. Duties: - Inform prisoners of their rights and duties; - Conduct individual resocialization work with prisoners; - Organize leisure activities for prisoners; - Distribute correspondence addressed to prisoners from private individuals, state and municipal institutions; - Review submissions, suggestions, complaints and reports on resocialization matters and prepare responses; - Assess relationships between prisoners in a unit, take measures to prevent and stop potential conflicts; - Collaborate with state and municipal institutions in preparing prisoners for release; - Assess convicted person's risks and needs, develop a resocialization plan and ensure its implementation; - Prepare documents for assessment commissions and courts regarding the convicted person's participation in planned resocialization activities and achieved results; - Review prisoner disciplinary case materials and provide recommendations on applicable punishment type; - Provide recommendations and prepare decisions regarding commendations, granting visitation rights to prisoners and storage of religious items with prisoners; - Prepare materials for inter-institutional meetings regarding convicted persons sentenced for serious or particularly serious violence offenses or offenses against morality and sexual integrity; - Conduct supervisory measures to prevent violations; - Conduct searches and inspections of persons and premises; - Supervise prisoners during family visits and leave periods.
