The Prison Administration is a state administrative institution under the Ministry of Justice that implements state policy in the field of detention as a security measure and the execution of deprivation of liberty as a criminal penalty.
An official is a person with appropriate professional education, qualifications, and special service rank who has taken an oath and serves in the Administration. The rights and duties of officials are determined by the Prison Administration Law and the Service Career Law for Officials with Special Service Ranks of the Interior Ministry System Institutions and the Prison Administration.

Requirements for Candidates:
Compliance with the requirements established in the Service Career Law for Officials with Special Service Ranks of the Interior Ministry System Institutions and the Prison Administration:
- Latvian citizen;
- Age from 18 to 50 years;
- At least first-level professional higher education;
- Latvian language proficiency at C level, second degree;
- Physical fitness complying with requirements set by the Cabinet of Ministers (Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 288 of 28.05.2013 "Physical Fitness Requirements for Officials with Special Service Ranks of the Interior Ministry System Institutions and the Prison Administration");
- Health condition and psychological characteristics complying with requirements set by the Cabinet of Ministers (Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 970 of 21.11.2006 "Regulations on the Health Condition and Psychological Characteristics Required for Officials with Special Service Ranks and Candidates for Official Positions of the Interior Ministry System Institutions and the Prison Administration and the Procedure for Checking Health Condition and Psychological Characteristics");
- Not convicted of intentional criminal offense – regardless of expungement or removal of conviction;
- Not sentenced for intentional criminal offense with exemption from punishment;
- Not criminally charged for committing an intentional criminal offense, except in cases where the official has been charged but the criminal proceedings against them have been terminated on rehabilitative grounds;
- Not recognized as legally incapable in the manner specified by law;
- Not dismissed from service in the Interior Ministry System or the Prison Administration due to the disciplinary penalty of dismissal from service;
- Good computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel);
- Ability to plan and organize work, executing assigned tasks in priority order;
- Good communication skills, high psychological resilience;
- Ability to work both as part of a team and independently;
- High sense of responsibility, analytical thinking, ability to work under high-intensity conditions.
Duties:
Conduct individual resocialization work with convicted persons by developing and implementing resocialization plans, managing resocialization cases, providing consultations, and organizing resocialization, social rehabilitation, and family ties strengthening activities;
Prepare and administer documentation related to convicted persons' sentence execution, regime changes, conditional early release, pardons, commendations, disciplinary penalties, reviews, and data entry in the Inmate Information System;
Participate in convicted persons' assessment and represent the institution by preparing opinions and information, participating in commissions, inter-institutional meetings, and, if necessary, representing the detention facility in court;
Ensure supervision of convicted persons and compliance with internal regulations by conducting preventive and control measures, monitoring resocialization activities, escorting inmates, and participating in searches and headcounts;
Cooperate with detention facility structural units and external institutions, provide suggestions for improving work and resocialization processes, inform convicted persons of their rights and duties, and promote the provision of a safe and effective resocialization environment.

- Annual paid leave of 30 calendar days, with annual paid leave extended by three calendar days after every five years of service;
