The Correctional Facilities Administration is a state administrative institution subordinate to the Ministry of Justice that implements state policy in the field of detention as a security measure and deprivation of liberty as a form of criminal punishment.
An official is a person with appropriate professional education, qualifications, and special service rank who has taken an oath and serves in the Administration. The rights and duties of officials are determined by the Correctional Facilities Administration Law and the Service Regulations for Officials with Special Service Ranks in State Bodies of the Ministry of Interior and the Correctional Facilities Administration.

Requirements for Candidates:
Compliance with requirements set forth in the Service Regulations for Officials with Special Service Ranks in State Bodies of the Ministry of Interior and the Correctional Facilities Administration:
Must be a Latvian citizen;
Age between 18 and 50 years;
Minimum secondary education required for the position;
Latvian language proficiency at level B1;
Physical fitness meets requirements set by the Cabinet of Ministers (Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 288 of 28.05.2013 "Physical Fitness Requirements for Officials with Special Service Ranks in State Bodies of the Ministry of Interior and the Correctional Facilities Administration");
Health status and psychological characteristics meet requirements set by the Cabinet of Ministers (Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 970 of 21.11.2006 "Regulations on Health Status and Psychological Characteristics Required for Officials with Special Service Ranks in State Bodies of the Ministry of Interior and Correctional Facilities Administration, Candidates for Such Positions, and Procedures for Health and Psychological Assessment");
Has not been convicted of an intentional criminal offense – regardless of whether the conviction has been expunged or removed;
Has not been sentenced for an intentional criminal offense with conditional discharge;
Has not been prosecuted for an intentional criminal offense, except in cases where criminal proceedings against the person were terminated on rehabilitating grounds;
Has not been declared legally incapacitated in the manner prescribed by law;
Has not been dismissed from service in the Ministry of Interior system or Correctional Facilities Administration due to disciplinary dismissal;
Strong communication skills and high psychological resilience;
Ability to work both in teams and individually.
