The Correctional Facilities Administration is a state administrative institution under the Ministry of Justice that implements state policy in the field of detention as a security measure and deprivation of liberty as a criminal sentence.
An official is a person with appropriate professional education, qualifications, and special service rank who has taken an oath and serves in the Administration. The rights and duties of officials are determined by the Correctional Facilities Administration Law and the Service Law for Officials with Special Service Ranks of the Interior Ministry System Institutions and the Correctional Facilities Administration.

Requirements for Candidates:
Compliance with requirements set out in the Interior Ministry System Institutions and Correctional Facilities Administration Officials with Special Service Ranks Service Law:
- Latvian citizenship;
- Age between 18 and 50 years;
- First-level professional higher education in law, civil and military defense, social and human sciences, teacher education and educational sciences, social welfare, humanities, business and administration, computer science, engineering sciences and technologies;
- Foreign language proficiency at least at C level 2nd degree;
- Physical fitness in accordance with requirements set by the Cabinet of Ministers (Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 288 of 28.05.2013 "Physical Fitness Requirements for Interior Ministry System Institutions and Correctional Facilities Administration Officials with Special Service Ranks");
- Health status and psychological characteristics in accordance with Cabinet of Ministers requirements (Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 970 of 21.11.2006 "Regulations on Health Status and Psychological Characteristics Required for Interior Ministry System Institutions and Correctional Facilities Administration Officials with Special Service Ranks and Candidates for Official Positions and Procedures for Examining Health Status and Psychological Characteristics");
- No conviction for an intentional criminal offense – regardless of conviction deletion or removal;
- No conviction for an intentional criminal offense with conditional release;
- Not prosecuted for committing an intentional criminal offense, except in cases where the official was prosecuted but criminal proceedings were terminated on rehabilitative grounds;
- Not declared incapable by court decision;
- Not dismissed from service in the Interior Ministry system or Correctional Facilities Administration due to disciplinary dismissal;
- Excellent communication skills, high psychological resilience;
- Ability to work both in a team and independently;
- High sense of responsibility, analytical thinking, ability to work under high-intensity conditions.
Duties:
- Enter information about incarcerated persons in the Incarcerated Persons Information System in accordance with competency;
- Enter information in the Interior Ministry Information Center Integrated Interior Information System subsystem "Persons Who Have Committed Criminal Offenses" about incarcerated persons in accordance with the Criminal Record Law;
- Enter information in Incarcerated Persons Information Systems about procedural activities using technical means (videoconferences), prepare necessary documents and send them to the procedural activity performer, cooperate with other prison divisions on videoconference provision, and ensure videoconferences for authorized prison personnel;
- Verify and compare data in the Incarcerated Persons Information System with personal files and accounting card data, make necessary corrections if needed;
- Perform urgent processing of received documents, ensuring delivery to the relevant institution promptly by electronic means, additionally notifying by phone;
- Prepare necessary requests regarding incarcerated persons;
- Maintain records of incarcerated persons, compile data, and prepare necessary reports;
- Attach documents to sentenced persons' files;
- Issue permits to sentenced persons who are authorized to temporarily leave prison territory in accordance with regulatory procedures;
- Issue certificates of persons' presence in the correctional facility based on requests;
- Issue incarcerated persons' files to facility officials and receive them back;
- Prepare requests for incarcerated persons to be brought from cells to persons visiting the facility to perform professional duties with the incarcerated;
- Prepare incarcerated persons' files for archiving and storage, compile archives of incarcerated persons' files and compare with existing files in the archive, arrange transfer of incarcerated persons' files to archives or destruction after specified periods expire.
