About the Organization
Hedskolan is a three-parallel F-6 school with adapted primary education. We have approximately 500 students and 100 employees. We are centrally located in Gällivare municipality, within walking distance to the sports hall, swimming pool, and more. Hedskolan has a well-developed approach to collaborative learning that encompasses all aspects of the curriculum. At Hedskolan, we review various organizational solutions to ensure a good work environment and provide students with the best instruction. Hedskolan has four after-school programs that work together. As a new teacher in Gällivare municipality, you will receive guidance from experienced teachers. We also have a developed system of collaborative and collective learning at our schools. Special education teachers, special educators, a school counselor, and a school nurse work at the school and collaborate in teams for the best outcomes for our students. Class mentors are now in all classes at Hedskolan and work primarily with the social aspects of the curriculum. Recess supervision and recess activities are among the class mentors' most important tasks.
Job Responsibilities
A substitute teacher's role is to step in and cover for absent staff at the school, for example as a teacher, student assistant, or class mentor. You will typically work from prepared lesson plans, and the work is highly varied. You will cover absences in lower or upper elementary. As a substitute teacher, you will also work afternoons at the after-school program.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with at least upper secondary school completion, and it is a merit to have worked with children/students in various contexts. We are looking for someone who is flexible and has a present and attentive approach to students' different needs, is a clear leader, and has good collaborative skills. You are independent, responsible, and take initiative easily. Great importance is placed on personal suitability. Under the national minority language law, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sámi, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is a merit in applications for employment in Gällivare municipality.
Employment requires an extract from the police records of suspicion and convictions.
