We are seeking an HSE and Sustainability Leader for our new Service Business Unit! You will be part of a global HSE and Sustainability organization within Hitachi Energy responsible for developing and implementing strategies to ensure safe working conditions and a healthy workplace, with a focus on supporting our customers' journey toward climate neutrality and circularity. This role reports directly to the Europe HUB HSE and Sustainability Manager, with dotted reporting to the Local Sales Unit Manager.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading HSE and sustainability activities and ensuring successful implementation of strategic programs in the country, aligned with the Service BU's strategy and Hitachi Energy's requirements. You will provide support, coaching, and advice to management and line managers on HSE and sustainability matters, and report performance across the country through the BU's value chain. The role also involves supporting operations by leveraging deep expertise in HSE and sustainability to offer solutions and guidance.
How You Will Make a Difference
Set strategic direction and ensure operational discipline in collaboration with the HUB HSE Manager
Ensure compliance with laws and requirements alongside the HSE team
Drive implementation of the HSE annual operational plan with support and leadership
Ensure operations follow HSE standards, Life Saving Rules, and high-risk activity management
Take responsibility for HSE compliance, risk management, and serve as technical authority in change initiatives
Promote a high-performance culture and continuous improvement in HSE
Ensure reporting of environmental data, incidents, KPIs, and follow-up on corrective actions
Ensure safe project execution, conduct site visits, lead incident investigations, and develop HSE specialists
Your Background
Engineering degree or bachelor's degree in HSE is required (engineering focus is optional if supported by documented HSE experience)
At least 10 years of solid experience in HSE, preferably in high-risk industries such as oil & gas, energy, or similar
Documented competence in risk assessment, risk mitigation, and high-risk activity management
Experience leading HSE projects, developing safety culture, and implementing innovative solutions and best practices
Experience from service operations is advantageous but not required
Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships at all levels
Fluent Swedish and English required; additional languages are advantageous
