The Swedish National Audit Office (Riksrevisionen) produces facts about how state operations function. We examine where state funds go, how efficiently government agencies work, and whether political decisions achieve their intended goals. This knowledge can be used to improve the work of the government and agencies and save taxpayers' money. When we find shortcomings, we provide recommendations to the government and agencies to improve their operations. Our independent position and the insight we contribute are important for a well-functioning democratic country. Our goal is for our audits to make a difference for people both now and in the future.
We also represent Sweden in international audit contexts and have development cooperation with audit agencies in Africa, Southeast Europe, and Asia.
