The Supreme Court's primary mission is to lead the administration of justice through landmark decisions. The Supreme Court is the final instance for civil cases, criminal cases, and matters decided by courts of appeal. In addition to its main function as a precedent-setting body, the Supreme Court also hears cases concerning revision, miscarriage of justice, restoration of missed deadlines, as well as matters relating to other states' requests for extradition and certain matters concerning attorneys. The Court's goal is to be a modern and attractive workplace with a particular focus on meaningful and developmentally challenging work tasks, individually tailored competence development, significant opportunity to influence routines and work methods, and engaging and developmentally oriented leadership. The Court actively works with operational development with a particular focus on work methods and quality. Employees are involved and active in the development work. Approximately 100 people work at the Supreme Court, of whom 16 are judges (justices). The Supreme Court is organized into two adjudicating divisions and a chancery. The chancery consists of three preparation units and an administrative unit with a registry office and archives as well as other administrative functions. 1 position(s). Work Tasks The heads of preparation units at the Supreme Court are responsible for the operations of one of the three preparation units. The heads of preparation units have personnel responsibility for judicial secretaries and preparation attorneys in the unit. The heads of preparation units are responsible for identifying cases of precedent interest early and coordinating cases with similar issues. The heads of preparation units also play an important role in implementing and further developing the entire work process leading up to the justices' decision-making. A fundamental task for the heads of preparation units is to support and supervise the judicial secretaries and preparation attorneys in their task of reviewing and presenting cases to the justices. Each unit handles approximately 4,000 cases per year. The Supreme Court has a benchmark of issuing 100 landmark decisions each year. The heads of preparation units are part of the management group together with the Court's president, division presidents, chancellor, chief administrator, and chief case manager. They are also part of the group that formulates the references for judicial secretaries and participate in the recruitment of judicial secretaries and preparation attorneys. The Supreme Court's preparation organization and work methods have undergone major changes in recent years. The role of the heads of preparation units has thereby been broadened and deepened further. Your Competence We are seeking someone who is or has been an active judge, or who has equivalent experience and competence. Employment as head of preparation unit involves significant management and personnel responsibility. In addition to being a highly skilled attorney, you should therefore have a particular interest in leadership and organizational matters. Experience in a management position or supervisory role is a merit. To succeed in the role of head of preparation unit, you also need to have very good collaboration skills and be able to establish credibility and trust at different levels in the organization. You have very large work capacity, the ability to handle many issues simultaneously, and can handle your work tasks even under stress. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
