Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan, GIH, is Sweden's leading knowledge center for sport, performance development, physical activity, and health. Subject Description Sport Science is a multidisciplinary field that starts from sports practices viewed from humanistic, social science, medical, and natural science perspectives. At GIH, teaching and research occur within the human biology, humanities, and social science knowledge fields. Duties Duties primarily encompass research, education, and collaboration within the areas (A) leadership, organization, and development in health and sport, and (B) health and sport in society. Area (A) leadership, organization, and development in health and sport includes subareas such as planning, organizing, management, governance, evaluation, entrepreneurship, and development of/within health- and sport-related activities. Area (B) health and sport in society includes, for example, social, cultural, organizational, and political perspectives on health, sport, and related activities. Duties also include teaching and supervision in (C) theory of science and scientific method, with particular focus on quantitative research methods. Teaching occurs at basic and advanced levels, primarily within the Sport Management and Health Management programs, as well as the master's program in sport science. Teaching and supervision in other educational programs and standalone courses are also included. At the basic education level, teaching is primarily in Swedish; at the advanced level, teaching in English may also occur. Additionally, customary duties for teaching and research staff are included, such as course responsibility, examination, course development, participation in developing educational and research environments, and administrative tasks related to the position. Eligibility Requirements Eligible for employment is someone who: Holds a doctoral degree in sport science or another field that the employer deems relevant for the position. Has demonstrated pedagogical skill, including the ability to plan, implement, evaluate, and develop instruction. Has good collaborative ability, including the ability to work constructively in collegial settings, collaborate across disciplinary and competence boundaries, and contribute actively and responsibly to shared tasks and organizational development. Has documented higher education pedagogy training of at least 7.5 higher education credits or equivalent competence that the employer deems equivalent. Has good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English. Great weight is placed on documented ability to collaborate with other researchers, institutions and higher education institutions, and health and/or sport-related organizations in the surrounding community. Great weight is placed on administrative skill of significance for the position's duties. Great weight is placed on interest and suitability for management, responsibility, and development assignments at the school. Duration/Working Hours The position is a permanent full-time employment with planned start date by agreement. The employment begins with a six-month probationary period.
