About the Department
The Defense Staff supports the Armed Forces leadership by handling and preparing incoming matters, questions and tasks, and ensures that decided activities are implemented and reported back. The Finance Department has overall responsibility for all finances in a growing operation. Approximately 40 employees with various competencies and specialties work here.
Main Responsibilities
A large part of the controller role involves planning, monitoring and analyzing the Swedish Armed Forces' finances.
Your work areas primarily encompass consolidation and financial analysis of the Armed Forces' finances from a comprehensive perspective. The work includes both current year finances and the Armed Forces' forecasts and appropriation development far into the future. The work is conducted mainly at an aggregated level, but detailed deep dives can occur to a limited extent.
You will also conduct analyses to assess how different scenarios and assumptions affect finances from various perspectives, prepare decision-making materials and guidance within the subject area, and contribute expertise in development and methodology matters. The role also includes investigative tasks and active problem-solving with both short and long-term planning. You may be responsible for and contribute to written decision-making materials for both agency leadership and the government.
You maintain a broad network where you regularly communicate with responsible individuals throughout the organization and also provide training within your area.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
Relevant academic degree with focus on economics or other experience the employer considers equivalent
Current and relevant experience in budget, forecast and analysis work from complex operations
Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Good knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing
Personal Qualities
The work requires good analytical ability and you can assimilate occasionally complex material. You handle periodically high workloads and tight time constraints without compromising quality. To succeed in the role, you need to be unpretentious and a good team player, while having the ability to independently drive issues. You are clear and communicative with the ability to clearly express your opinions. You can explain economic developments in an educational manner for non-economists.
You work carefully and methodically, complete what you start and meet deadlines. The work requires that you are analytical, seeing logic and connections in complex information.
In the selection process, great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and results achieved within previous areas of responsibility.
MERITORIOUS
Experience working in finance functions in the Swedish Armed Forces or another defense agency
Experience working with finances at another government agency or the Government Offices of Sweden
Experience working with finances related to the EU or other international collaborations
Experience working with large projects spanning multiple years
Knowledge of SAP
