The goal of aviation security is to protect passengers, personnel, the public, and property from illegal acts. Illegal acts include, for example, criminal attacks such as sabotage, hijackings, and hostage-takings. The Aviation Security Section's responsibilities include regulatory development, licensing, and supervisory work within aviation security. The section also handles facilitation matters, which concern various flows in aviation, such as border control and rights for persons with disabilities in connection with air travel.
