The County Administrative Board has approximately 300 employees who work as the government's representative at the regional level. The Nature Conservation Unit is the largest of the County Administrative Board's seven units. We work with preserving biological diversity, promoting outdoor recreation, establishing and managing nature reserves, maintaining our mountain trails, managing our wildlife populations, reindeer herding matters, as well as conducting supervision and issuing permits. Description Work with area protection is located within the nature protection function, one of the nature conservation unit's four functions, and is conducted in accordance with the government's directive on voluntary formal protection and national strategies. The work team currently consists of approximately ten people. Job Responsibilities The work includes establishing and writing decisions on nature reserves as well as writing nature conservation agreements. It also includes ongoing dialogue with affected stakeholders, such as landowners, administrators, Sámi villages, SSR, other authorities, and others. Regular coordination also occurs with colleagues within the agency. Establishing area protection requires high levels of collaboration and responsiveness to capture input from affected stakeholders. Qualifications We are looking for someone with higher education in natural sciences, forest ecology, or equivalent. Since the work involves travel where public transportation is not available, a Class B driver's license is required. As a person, you take initiative and start activities that lead to achieving results. You have good collaboration skills, demonstrated through listening, communicating, and resolving conflicts constructively. The work requires a high ability to prioritize as the volume of cases varies over time. You have the ability to weigh complex information and different types of considerations. You demonstrate judgment in statements, actions, and decisions and communicate in a clear manner. You ensure that messages are conveyed and that expectations are clear for all affected parties. It is meritorious if you have experience with: Area protection within a state authority Writing decisions on nature reserves Writing management plans for different nature types Administration within an authority In this recruitment, we ask you to answer a number of selection questions instead of attaching a cover letter.
