Position Description
The Swedish Maritime Administration is now recruiting a Specialist in Permits and Compliance for vessel permits and marine scientific research to the Permits and Compliance Section, based in Stockholm.
The Permits and Compliance Section handles, among other things, vessel entry permits, marine scientific research permits, and advance notifications. The section is part of the Operational Planning Unit, which includes four additional sections.
The section's main tasks include serving as a national contact point for maritime traffic Swedish Maritime Clearance (SMC), permit processing for marine scientific research, handling of diplomatic permits, and compliance oversight in the economic zone.
Responsibilities
In your role as a specialist, you will work in collaboration with other Swedish authorities, embassies, and the business sector. The duties require your ability to independently process and decide on matters in a legally sound manner. In parallel with this, you will help develop the department's own processing procedures.
Responsibilities in your role as a specialist include:
Processing and deciding on permits for foreign state vessels wishing to conduct marine scientific research in Sweden's economic zone and territorial waters.
Preparing applications for diplomatic permits for aircraft and vessels from other states.
Preparing the Swedish Maritime Administration's own applications for exercises in collaboration with other states and FRONTEX.
Conducting administrative compliance oversight aimed at protecting the maritime environment in Sweden's economic zone concerning marine scientific research, pipelines and underwater cables, and wind power.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
At minimum, upper secondary education in the form of approved final grades or a diploma, or equivalent education or experience that we at the Swedish Maritime Administration consider relevant.
Relevant experience with case management and filing systems.
Good computer skills.
Good ability in Swedish, both spoken and written.
Good ability in English, both spoken and written.
It is advantageous if you have:
Relevant experience with case processing at a state authority or public organization.
Previous experience with permit and compliance processing.
Previous experience with maritime-related case processing.
As a person, you are collaboration-oriented and can work in a team as well as independently. You are curious and enjoy learning new things. You have a structured work approach and are accustomed to making decisions and managing stressful situations. Terms of Employment
This is a permanent position starting as soon as possible by agreement. The employment begins with a six-month probationary period.

The Swedish Maritime Administration participates in overseas assignments and international operations. Employment therefore includes an obligation to serve abroad if required by operations.
