Welcome to us The Individual and Family Department is responsible for providing support and assistance to children, young people and adults in difficult life situations and works preventatively to ensure that support is provided at the right time. The Children and Youth area – placement and open care consists of approximately 70 employees who work with placement issues and open care. The placement unit, where this position is located, consists of eight social workers, three school coordinators and one unit manager. We follow up on the care of children and young people placed in public care. We are now expanding with a new targeted position for work with health and medical care issues relating to placed children and young people. Your role Children and young people placed in public care generally have worse physical and mental health than other children. Many have undetected care needs, lack of dental care contacts, mental health issues or experiences of not having access to the right care in time. At the same time, research and oversight show that health examinations prior to placement are not always carried out systematically and that follow-up of children's care needs risks becoming unclear when multiple actors are involved. To strengthen children's right to good and equal health, we are choosing to invest in a targeted social worker position with special responsibility for health issues related to public care. A large part of the role will be to ensure that health examinations are carried out, to coordinate that identified care needs lead to appropriate measures, and to follow up the child's health over time. The work will be based on the National Board of Health and Welfare's HälsoSAMS model, which aims to create structured collaboration between social services, health and medical care and other involved actors around the health of placed children. Since the position is new, you will have the opportunity to help shape its content, which is why it is important that you are proactive, flexible and have an interest in development work for children and young people placed in public care. There is a possibility of a permanent position if the work achieves expected results. Your competence and experience We are looking for you who has a degree in social work has several years of experience working with children and young people within social services authority are knowledgeable in all of social services legislation and especially in investigations of children and young people. It is meritorious if you: have a B driving license have experience working in health and medical care. We are looking for someone who is good at working structurally by planning, organizing and prioritizing your work well. In this position it is important to be able to collaborate with others and have the ability to put yourself in someone else's perspective or situation. Furthermore, we see that you are calm and stable and have the ability to make sound judgments from a longer-term perspective.
