As Group Manager for Service at SMHI, you have an important mission: to create the best possible conditions for others to succeed. You lead a team whose work keeps operations functioning every day and helps SMHI carry out its missions effectively – even when those missions are directly vital to society. About the Position As Group Manager for Service, you lead and develop an operation that is important for all of SMHI. You have personnel, budget, and workplace environment responsibility and manage daily operations while developing the business with a forward-looking perspective. Your personnel responsibilities include development and salary discussions, skills development, and ongoing follow-up with employees and operations. The Service Group includes: Reception and switchboard are a central contact point for both visitors and employees, contributing to professional and welcoming treatment of those who interact with SMHI. Customer service meets citizens, organizations, and companies with questions spanning all of SMHI's operations. This includes handling everything from inquiries and feedback to requests for SMHI's services and study visits. The library is responsible for purchasing books, borrowing from other libraries, ordering and searching for articles, providing guidance on report writing, and coordinating reports. The expedition creates conditions for a well-functioning work day through mail and package handling, office services, and practical support in our facilities. As Group Manager, you ensure the overall perspective and create conditions for the functions to collaborate, develop, and deliver high-quality service. Depending on your expertise and experience, the role may also include broader responsibility. This could include responsibility for a procurement organization for smaller purchases, where you and the operation serve as the link between SMHI's needs and the procurement function. Responsibility for branded items, product selection, and related purchasing may also be included. We hope your expertise will be fully utilized, and the final design of these parts of the assignment can be adapted based on your experience and competency profile. You report to the Head of Procurement and Service and are one of two group managers within the unit. About You We are looking for someone who wants to lead close to operations and who gains energy from creating good conditions for others. You are confident in your leadership, build relationships of trust, and create engagement through clarity, attentiveness, and participation. At the same time, you have the ability to take a broader view, see the whole picture, and drive development forward. To succeed in this role, you need to be able to switch between operational and long-term thinking. You take initiative and translate ideas and needs into action, while working in a structured way, planning and prioritizing efficiently. You follow up on decisions made and ensure that work leads to results. Collaboration is a natural part of how you work. You listen to different perspectives, communicate clearly, and adapt your approach based on the situation and audience. Even when issues are complex or opinions differ, you maintain a constructive approach. As a person, you are confident and stable, have good self-awareness, and can distinguish between the personal and the professional. We are looking for someone who has (requirements): at least two years of post-secondary education in, for example, leadership, organization, service management, administration, public administration, or another area that SMHI considers relevant for the position. Alternatively, you have other education combined with experience that we consider equivalent experience in leadership, for example from leading teams, projects, or change initiatives, or from other contexts where you have created engagement and coordinated and developed people and operations experience from a government agency or other publicly managed operation good understanding of the legal requirements imposed on government agencies and the role of a civil servant very good knowledge of Swedish and good knowledge of English, both spoken and written good knowledge of the Office package and the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with business-supporting IT systems. It is a merit if you have: experience in leadership within a service-oriented operation, either as a manager or in another leading role, such as team leader, coordinator, or project manager experience working with internal or external service formal management experience experience in business development within public operations experience working with a procurement organization education in, for example, coaching leadership, change management, labor law, or workplace environment, or other education that strengthens your ability to lead and develop Employment Type: Permanent employment Work Location: Position is based at our office in Norrköping; the majority of your work time is at the office, and you have the opportunity to work from home when it suits operations.
