WHAT YOU WILL DO WITH US As a people-responsible group head, you will lead and distribute the work for the—currently five—lawyers in the Payments Department. You ensure that the legal team delivers high-quality materials to the operations and the rest of the organization. You lead toward goals by delegating responsibility, following up, and providing support. You ensure there is a long-term plan and work in a structured manner. You will also handle certain cases yourself. The lawyers in the Payments Department work primarily with the Riksbank's cash supply activities and the bank's systems for settling large payments and immediate payments (RIX). The matters concern, among other things, settlement, payment services, and anti-money laundering, and encompass various areas of law such as pledge law, credit law, and property law, as well as administrative law (for example, public access to information and confidentiality). The lawyers in the department prepare legal reports, decision-making materials, and agreements, and place legal assessments in an operational perspective. They develop and interpret rules, regulations, and agreements related to the Riksbank's operations. The lawyers monitor how changes in laws and regulations affect the Riksbank's operations and the payments market as a whole. This also includes EU legislation and regulations. Several major development projects in the payments area are ongoing within the Riksbank, and a large part of the work involves these. At times, the work has tight deadlines and many stakeholders involved, which you need to be comfortable with to thrive here. YOUR TEAM As of September 1, 2026, the lawyers in the Payments Department will be gathered in a group within the Payments Analysis and Innovation unit. As group head, you report to the unit head. The unit consists of approximately 20 employees with mixed competencies and has the task of monitoring and analyzing the payments market and developing Riksbank policy in the payments area. The department's lawyers work closely with the lawyers in the Legal Secretariat. The Riksbank as a whole has around 25 lawyers who meet regularly. ABOUT YOU We are looking for someone who has a Swedish law degree (formerly law degree—juris kandidat) and at least five years of experience in qualified legal work at a government authority, as well as at least three years of experience in legal work in the payments area. You have previous experience leading experts, either as a people-responsible manager or as a project manager or similar. Previous experience with personnel and budget responsibility is a merit. You have knowledge of Riksbank-relevant policy issues and experience analyzing and solving complex legal issues based on comprehensive regulations and with consideration for operational needs. You have experience placing legal assessments in an operational perspective. You have a good ability to explain complex legal problems and proposed solutions in a concise and pedagogical way to those affected, and experience collaborating internally and externally with concrete results. Experience in qualified legal work in banking and finance or at a law firm is a merit. It is also a merit to have experience contributing to preparations for senior management and to have contributed to and led development and change initiatives. As a person, you have a strong ability to build trust. You are good at communicating clearly and in a balanced way, and you are receptive and stable. You have the ability to motivate others—even in an unclear situation. You have a good ability to make decisions, even in situations where information is incomplete, which is also related to having very good judgment, particularly legal judgment.
