Vista School seeks primary teacher for recreation center – coordination coordinator/outdoor educator (temporary position)
We are now looking for a dedicated and structured primary teacher for the recreation center at Vista School with responsibility F-9. The position is a temporary role for an employee who is on educational leave, starting in mid-August and ending in late May.
In the role, you combine the pedagogical assignment in the recreation center with an overall responsibility as a coordination coordinator and development of the school's recess activities as an outdoor educator.
About the assignment
As a primary teacher in a recreation center, you have overall pedagogical responsibility including planning, implementation, and follow-up of activities. You base your work on the curriculum, research, and proven experience and actively work to develop the quality of instruction.
You create good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues, and have high expectations for student development. You are a clear pedagogical leader who contributes to a safe, structured, and stimulating learning environment.
Assignment as coordination coordinator
The role includes overall responsibility for coordinating recreation activities, including:
Planning and coordinating staffing based on daily absences and calling in temporary staff and working closely with the school's administration office
Redistributing staff when needed in consultation with school management
Having ongoing consultations with assistant principals
Responsibility for scheduling (term schedule and holiday planning)
Planning and organizing holiday activities as well as mergers and on-call childcare
Handling administration in Vklass (information, surveys, mailings, holiday registrations, etc.)
Compiling materials, following up on responses, and ensuring good communication with guardians
Collaborating with internal and external contacts regarding facilities, catering, and cooperation with other schools
Participating in and, if needed, leading competency development and coordinator meetings
Updating and developing the recreation center's planning, annual schedules, and governing documents
Assignment as outdoor educator
You are responsible for developing and leading the school's recess activities by:
Planning and implementing varied and inclusive recess activities
Creating structured weekly schedules for recess activities
Organizing themed recesses and events (e.g., holidays)
Involving students in activities, for example through student councils and student groups
Developing the recess environment through clear structures, materials, and activity areas based on the school's goals in systematic quality work
Inventorying, ordering, and maintaining materials
Developing routines, maps, and support materials for recess activities and recess supervision
Your profile
We are looking for you who:
Have a degree as a primary teacher for recreation centers or recreation pedagogue with licensure
Have experience planning, implementing, and evaluating instruction based on governing documents
Are structured, have good organizational skills, and thrive in a coordinating role
Are flexible and solution-oriented in a changing daily environment
Have very good collaboration skills and easily create trusting relationships
Are driven, take initiative, and contribute to developing the activities
Are confident in your pedagogical leadership and create an environment characterized by safety, respect, and clarity
