F 16 is responsible for Uppsala garrison and the operation of Uppsala airfield. About the Unit 163rd Garrison Battalion consists of the Logistics Company, Garrison Company, and soon the Training Company, which together create the conditions for assigned units to focus on their primary mission. The battalion's role and tasks are developing rapidly to meet the new challenges that Sweden and the Swedish Armed Forces face. The Garrison Company is responsible for garrison coordination at Uppsala garrison. The company includes the garrison's offices and archives, sports service, dog service, operations service including training, specialists in various areas of expertise, administrators, and caretakers. Main Responsibilities The Garrison Company's service platoon brings together parts of the unit's capabilities in training and functional support. In your role as a basic dog trainer, you ensure the supply of dogs to the companies and platoons where the dog's capabilities are of great value. The breadth of the platoon places high demands on each employee to drive their operations forward, usually as part of a team but sometimes as an individual. Your main responsibility is to lay the foundation for the dog's continued training toward service requirements; you will repeatedly take responsibility for training young, aptitude-tested and approved dogs that are later intended to be placed with a dog handler and finally become an operational dog team. You are responsible for training these young dogs according to the standardized procedures established by the Swedish Armed Forces' Dog Service Unit (FHTE) and in close dialogue with F 16's service dog officer, who is also one of your closest colleagues. You are also responsible for documenting the basic training. You are expected to take an active role in dialogue with other parts of the Swedish Armed Forces' dog service in order to take part in upcoming developments and build your network. When the position allows, you will have the opportunity to broaden your understanding of Uppland Air Squadron's operations in general, and the Swedish Armed Forces' dog service in particular, and with that understanding also feel that you are an important and valued colleague!
