WORK TASKS At the Map and Measurement Unit, we are eight employees who work closely together to distribute geodata throughout the municipality's operations. As a GIS Engineer, you will primarily work with maintaining and further developing the municipality's GIS systems, web maps and geodata services, as well as carrying out GIS assignments for the municipality's operations, companies and municipal associations. The work includes, among other things, development projects, ongoing operational issues, data management, user support, training and technical strategy matters. An important part of the role is to contribute to GIS being used as a natural support in the municipality's community development processes. This means that you work together with different operations to produce maps, analyses and decision-making materials for planning, investigations and development projects. We want to strengthen the work of GIS as an analytical tool within community development, where geographic information is used to understand relationships, visualize needs and contribute to well-founded decisions. The role also includes using GIS to find creative and practical solutions to the operations' needs and challenges. This can involve combining geographic data from different sources, automating work steps, developing map services or finding new ways to analyze and visualize information. You will have the opportunity to work both independently and together with colleagues and operations within the municipal group. The role offers good opportunities to influence work methods, technology and how GIS is used in the organization. We currently work with software such as FME, QGIS, GeoServer and Origo. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who have education in GIS, geography, urban planning, surveying, systems science or other education that the employer considers equivalent. You have a good understanding of geographic information and how GIS can be used for maps, analyses, system management and operational support. It is meritorious if you have experience with GIS systems, web maps, geodata services and GIS analyses within, for example, community development, planning, infrastructure, environment or traffic. We would like to see that you have worked with software such as FME, QGIS, GeoServer and Origo and have an understanding of SQL, JSON and simple scripting or automation. As a person, you are structured, analytical and solution-oriented. You have an easy time collaborating and communicating with both colleagues and users, and you enjoy translating operations' needs into practical GIS solutions. We would like to see that you are curious, creative and development-oriented and want to contribute to GIS being used more actively as support for analysis, planning and decision-making.
